HETHERSETT ATHLETIC F.C. 1999/2000 WHITE HORSE SUNDAY v HETHERSETT ATHLETIC Away 10/10/99 Another top of the table clash against White Horse Sunday saw Hethersett,s unbeaten record go after a dismal performance against a hard working side. Some of the boys were looking distinctly out of sorts and we need to raise our game against all opponents, not just the better sides. In a first half best forgotten, Hethersett appeared unwilling or unable to compete against the home side who battled for every ball and won the majority of the 50-50 tackles. The Hethersett lads were continually giving the ball away in dangerous areas and had Steve Hyett to thank for keeping the first half goal-less. H-T 0-0 White Horse gained a deserved lead in the early stages of the half. Neil Cockerton , Hethersett,s new signing came on to try and prop up the disorganized efforts from the visitors. Hethersett for twenty minutes came more into the game and they began to pressure the home defence. The one highlight was the superbly struck left foot volley from Nick Jones that levelled the score. 1-1 The referee whose performance through out had been eye opening then awarded White Horse a bizarre penalty much to the disgust of the Hethersett squad. White Horse promptly missed the spot kick. This good fortune should have spurred the lads into action but it was the home side who then showed the necessary spirit and work rate that Hethersett lacked to score twice more before the end. A thoroughly deserved win for the home side. RESULT 3-1 |
