HETHERSETT ATHLETIC v TOFTWOOD SUNDAY Home 03/10/99 This top of the table clash between two unbeaten sides lived up to expectations, full of incident and good football. Toftwood looked to have the edge in the early exchanges, playing some enterprising football. Lewis Mace broke the deadlock when Hethersett won the ball and quickly switched play for Mace to run at the defence and fire low past the keeper from the edge of the area. 1-0 Toftwood came back strongly but could not find a way through the home defence to trouble Greenhalgh. Hethersett went further ahead when Mace released Robbie Lincoln and the little striker finished superbly. 2-0 The visitors still forced the pace but were unable to break through. Mace and Lincoln both had chances with quick breaks but could not add to the score. H-T 2-0 Another chance created by Steve Hyett almost saw Lincoln score again but the shot was wide. Sloppy defending allowed Toftwood back into the game when they pulled one back. 2-1 Instantly Hethersett scored again, Harrison's corner kick fell kindly for John Cooper and he dispatched a low shot from ten yards for his first ever goal. 3-1. Again Toftwood came back and the scored a second after Greenhalgh was found wanting . Hethersett thought they had the game won when the ever dangerous Lincoln scored a superbly taken goal to restore the two goal lead. Only minutes remained and the visitors were looking desperate for a goal, unfortunately for the home keeper two more bad errors were gratefully accepted by the rampant Toftwood strikers.
