HETHERSETT ATHLETIC F.C. NORWICH & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIV 4B |
|
RAILWAY RANGERS v HETHERSETT ATHLETIC Away 17/10/99 Hethersett had something to prove today, not only to themselves but also the management team and this local derby game hopefully, would be the platform to restore our faith in the teams willingness to compete. A clash of colours meant a change of strip for Hethersett and it took a while for the lads to put any real momentum into their game. Nick Jones finally started the action when he made ground on the right and fired hard past the keeper. 0-1 Good work on Hethersett,s left flank from Newstead and Harrison then made the chance for Robbie Lincoln to find the net with a strong shot from eighteen yards. 0-2 Railway fought back and a weak defensive header fell to the home forward who scored past Hyett. 1-2 Lewis Mace found himself with space in the penalty area and he scored the third past the static home defence. 1-3 H-T 1-3 Rangers for fifteen minutes came more into the game but Gaskin and Cockerton in central midfield were working hard to break up the railway attacks. Hethersett slowly began to overcome the home defenders and it was no surprise when Mace popped up in the right spot to score his second goal. 1-4 Right back John Cooper was providing the runs on the right side and his good early cross was powerfully headed home from Mace. 1-5 Hethersett were in control with Rangers reduced to one long range effort that cleared the cross bar. In the final minutes it was Mace again, leaving four defenders trailing in his wake the striker scored a superb solo effort to take his tally to four. RESULT 1-6 |
