QD STORES v HETHERSETT ATHLETIC Away 21/11/99 Hethersett were forced to make changes with Mace unavailable, Harrison was pushed forward to partner Lincoln in attack. New signing Dave Martin made his debut in midfield. Hethersett created good chances in the opening exchanges, Harrison pulled the ball square but Jones sliced wide from eight yards. James Reeve was unlucky to see his shot well saved by the QD keeper. Steve Hyett fired in a shot that was denied by a stunning save from the keeper. The goal finally came when a John Cooper corner kick dropped nicely for Robbie Lincoln to volley high into the net. 0-1 Steve Hyett was having a splendid game in midfield and the goal keeper turned midfielder scored with a low shot from twelve yards. 0-2 Cockerton saw his effort strike the outside of the post. QD still posed threats with some quick counter attacks and they pulled a goal back after winning a penalty kick. Angus Greenhalgh's error presented the ball to the QD striker and his goal bound effort was kept out by Reeves instinctive hand ball. The referee had no option but to dismiss the Hethersett defender and QD took advantage of the kick. 1-2 H-T 1-2 Despite the loss of Reeve, Hethersett still presented a strong attacking look and they forced the home side to defend for long periods. A glaring miss from the referee just about summed up the day. Steve Hyett rose high to power in a superb header that hit the back of the net and rolled through. The home side had already accepted the goal and with Hethersett celebrating the "goal" the referee awarded a goal kick. Hyett was really fired up and he sent a twenty yard shot that just cleared the bar. Hethersett nerves were calmed when Robbie Lincoln scored his second goal. 1-3 Gaskin, Steward, Cooper and the impressive Neil Cockerton all coped well with the declining home sides efforts. Hyett was unlucky not to add to his tally, twice just failing to connect with crosses from Jones. Robbie Lincoln was struggling with an injury, but just before he came off the striker made space in the box and from twelve yards sent his shot past the keeper, to complete his hat trick.
